Agitation
A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
~ Mark 4:37-40
AGITATION
Like the disciples in the storm
My mind and soul become agitated at times
and when that happens
I ask “Like You calmed the sea and the wind,
Calm my mind and my soul.”
I long to rest in the peace of Your loving embrace.
I long to receive Your everlasting calm.
I settle into the depth of my heart.
Waiting for the calm to come over me
In stillness and peace.
Oh, that I could always rest in Your peace and comfort.
That I could know that You are the “I am that I am”.
That I would hear that still, small voice
that leads me forward and shows me the way.
And find my home there with You.
I come home to You within my heart and soul.
I rest assured of Your love and protection
I know that You are the only place that makes me whole.
I long to stay in that perfect place of rest
and know that You are with me always.
AMEN
